Water Project abandon by governor Aminu of Katina commissioner not aware

The Governor of kastina Aminu Bello Masari for about three years has put aside the water project established by the administration of former governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shehu Shema, for the residents of Kurfi Local Government.

A resident of Gidan-Mallam Iliya Garba, a community in Kurfi, described the challenge of not having drinking water by people in the area as pitiable and called on the appropriate authorities to intervene.

Garba said the only source of water in the area is a stream flowing in the community, which was not hygienic for consumption, stressing that the only way to touch the lives of people in any community is by providing social infrastructure and development.

According to him, “We go to river to fetch water which is unhygienic. So we are appealing to the government to renovate the abandoned water project in Kurfi so that we can have potable water.’’

A also resident Hajiya Asebe Maigoro, called on Governor Masari to fulfil his campaign promises by providing adequate infrastructure for the people in the area.

However the Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Salisu Dandume, said: “I am not aware of the abandoned water project in Kurfi, but I will carry out my investigation on the matter between today (Monday) and Tuesday.
