DC United 4-1 Portland Timbers: Wayne Rooney keeps up stunning form as he strikes twice to lift side off the bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference

Wayne Rooney scored two goals as DC United beat the Portland Timbers 4-1 on Wednesday night to move out of last place in the Eastern Conference.

DC won their third consecutive home game as their form continues to improve. Portland are on a slight downward turn. The Timbers have lost two on the spin after going unbeaten in their previous 15 matches.

The former England captain went viral earlier in the week for a sensational tackle and assist in DC United's last game.
