Manchester United 'close the door' on Pogbas's exit to Barcelona
Manchester United have 'closed the door' on Paul Pogba's move to Barcelona as they fear they may not be able to find a suitable replacement before Thursday's transfer deadline.

Sportsmail reported on Tuesday night that Pogba has told Manchester United he is desperate to leave for the Spanish side and has already agreed a £350,000-a-week contract with them.

However, according to Sport, with the deadline for United to buy a replacement set at 5pm on Thursday, Barcelona are now considering a move for Frenkie de Jong as an alternative should the Red Devils refuse to sell.

Barcelona have already added Arturo Vidal to their midfield ranks this summer and are keen to purchase another following the departures of Andres Iniesta and Paulinho.

United are adamant that Pogba is not for sale, just two days before Jose Mourinho’s side kick off the season at home to Leicester.

They would have little chance of signing a replacement before the transfer window closes in England at 5pm on Thursday.

It’s understood that Pogba has agreed terms with the Catalan giants on a deal worth £89.5m over five years — a basic salary of £18m equivalent to £346,000 a week — through his agent Mino Raiola and that he has his heart set on a move to the Nou Camp.
